Seen as though best results are coming from teh three places how about a few more squares in those places? so say 2 or 3 in the DD, forest etc...

same rules apply but it may give an insight to which is better to dig in

p.s. awesome study so far, really interesting

Well like the study has shown digging in dd gives the highest exp and money compared to other districts. This is mainly because forests/caverns and the like have an influx of monsters which is both annoying and a waste of clicks running. Regarding which square in dd to dig in, of course the closer to a general store and pub would be the more ideal. I dig at the south port because it is closer to the market than the spot between the two casinos. When we clear out of the fighter district on TA however, one would have to expect a huge increase in the exp and money, and it would be the best place to dig.

Ok I dont know if anyone has noticed this but my recently levelled digger is no longer digging up any copper ores. Did a quick test keeping a tally of copper/iron/tin balls:

1000 clicks:
copper ores: 0
iron ores: 3524
tin balls: 4020

So i'm sure there is a cut off for the digging up of copper ores. This test was done at a luck of 134. I have not payed close attention to this fact but I might recall digging up of copper ores at a luck of 130. However it could be the highly unlikely probability that i just am not digging up any copper today Sandy and Sash i'm not sure if you have noticed already but if not, please confirm this. Upcoming diggers might also try establish a luck level where the digging of copper ores ceases. The cut off of a certain 'useless' item could prove interesting since one would suspect there must be a level where the digging up of iron ore and tin would cease.

I've suspected this was imminent for a while too. If you notice, the studies that I posted earlier in this thread showed an average of about 500 copper ore per 1000 clicks... which isn't much at all, considering that 500 copper can be dug in far fewer than 10 digs. Some of my single dig quantities numbered in the 80's, so the number could be as low as 6 or 7 copper digs per 1000 clicks at 130 luck.

I'm pretty much out of clicks on both diggers today, but once I get 1000 clicks again, I will definitely redo the TA dig location.

Correction: my luck wasn't 130... dunno where I came up with that.

Here are all the numbers:

Two 1000-click digs with 124 luck: 623 copper ore average
Eleven 1000-click digs with 127 luck: 518 copper ore average
One 1000-click dig with 128 luck: 331 copper ore

The number of 124-luck and 128-luck digs are too low to draw a solid conclusion here, but the numbers are certainly suggestive.

I abandoned the study after 1000 clicks on 128 luck due to the very minor differences between it and 127 luck. I figured the minor differences could just as easily be attributed to a couple of lucky clicks here or there as they could be to the different amount of luck. Too bad I didn't continue... we would have known this already!

You're right Raiken....

Jewyl no longer digs up copper either. After 1000 clicks not a single piece. But she did dig up 296 hyperium, so that's nice

I'll try and watch with Lady Luck as she levels when she stops getting ore. She for sure still is right now with her luck of 119. But she'll be leveling soon, and maybe I'll try and do some missions with her to get he luck up faster. I'll test at 129 and 130 to see if 130 is the first luck level when you no longer get copper.

Yay!

Ok... after doing a rediculous number of missions with Lady Luck (10 I think)... I have concluded that luck=132 is the first luck level where you no longer see any copper ore.

I've dug for about 1000 clicks.... but i'll continue to watch for copper as I did just in case

Collected most of the reliable data from the study so far and drew up some basic graphs based on how the digging up of different items is affected by increasing luck. There were hardly any data from luck 80 onwards and a lot of data in the 60s, so it needed to be averaged. The figures were roughly rounded to the nearest 10. This of course is not very reliable, but was needed to obtain an even x-axis (luck). Only results from block 1, 3-5, 9 were included.

Graph 1: luck vs emerald/opal/lapis/pearl/ruby:

Graph 2: luck vs diamond/dispro/kith/centro/hyper:

Graph 3: luck vs copper/iron/tin:

Ooooh... I of course find this quite interesting.

Was all of the data you used from digging in the DD? I think it needs to be the same districk to be consistant, as we know the rations for different areas vary.

What's the highest luck in the data you looked at? If it's alot lower then Jewyl's current luck, then I'll take down data for a trial with her so we can examine the copper/tin/iron trend at higher luck's too.

Cool.

No, not all my data was from one district. As I listed above, only the data from districts 1, 3-5, 9 were included. This is because i wanted to get more than just 1 set of data from each luck group if possible. The range of luck was between 29 and 127, so if Jewyl can do a trial with 141 luck it would be great. Might redo the graphs based on block 1 only since that appears to be where most people obtained their results from. All new tests and results are welcome of course, the more the better

Because the trend is already evident in what the other items, further tests at a higher luck level will be done to show the changes in ore/tin only. The graphs show that as luck increases, the amount of emerald/lapis/ruby/opal/pearl increases slightly also. Hyperium increases at a faster rate. The amount of diamonds/dispro/kith/centro however stays constant even at higher luck levels. This leaves the iron/copper/tin which is intriguing since copper has been established to disappear at luck 132 or above. This leaves the question, what next iron or tin? Further tests at higher luck levels will hopefully determine this in the near future.

To keep with the trend of graveyard since most studies have been done in this block.
Block 1 graveyard:
Luck 134
copper ore: 0
iron ore: 3176
tin ball: 5981
