Spirit of America, a patriotic, live-action show presented by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. Performed by more than 400 soldiers of the U.S. Army's elite ceremonial units, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," the U.S. Army Drill Team, the Fife and Drum Corps, this show features traditional and modern music, disciplined drill and historical narrative as Soldiers recap the heritage of our country in an inspiring and entertaining performance.

Divided into two acts, Spirit of America uniquely combines traditional military ceremony with a large-scale theatrical production, creating an action-packed performance that showcases military vehicles, traditional and modern music and a spectacular light and sound show that fills the entire arena floor.

a sidenote:
I attended a performance and enjoyed it very much, it's very rare to get to see these units outside of the nations capitol.... so I thought I would share these web links.. there were only 3 cities in the country that were visited by this show....so it really was quite a thrill to get to see it... after the show I had the honor of meeting several of the commanding officers of the Military District of Washington, including Major General Galen B. Jackman, pictured here:

and, his Command Sergeant Major, Jeffrey Greer.

(Maj. Gen. Jackman, as some of you may recall, was Nancy Reagan's escort during the state funeral for former President Reagan)

as a military veteran, and patriot.... it was quite an honor for me to get to meet and talk with these officers.
They are the elite of the U.S. Army, and guardians of the nations capitol.

I just listened to "sights and sounds" in Spirit of America.

I'm Scottish, so why does The Star Spangled Banner, fill me with such strong emotions, like pride, with a tear in my eye ? I also play the flute, not very well anymore, but I'm learning it all over again, maybe I was American in my past life .
