Why do so many spannish speaking people play chess?
It's something I noticed not only here but on other sites too.
Does anybody know the historical explanation?
Or is mere coincidence?
"The language is spoken by between 322 and 400 million people natively, making Spanish the most spoken Romance language and possibly the second most spoken language by number of native speakers."
Many chess historians believe that chess started in India near the end of the 6th century A.D. Afterwards it slowly migrated to Persia, then to the Arab world, then to Europe. Some historians believe that chess originated in China, although they are in the minority.

The origin of chess theories are largely based on a few literary references which have survived to our day. Controversies arise because its not always clear that the references are to chess or to another game. Real physical evidence one way or the other is missing.

Why can't "Spanish Speaking People" play chess? It is an international sport and more than one person speaks Spanish. It's the same reason French people play chess or New Zealanders.
