Foul Snooker question.

Hi all. I was playing a game and after getting my usual carp position off of a red, I snookered my opponent off the black and behind the blue and baulk colours. This was given as a 'Foul Snooker' and 7 points away. Why would that be?

the game probably had you nominating a different colour.
