Help a three years old little boy!
http://web.axelero.hu/suliko/SEGITSETEK/kocsiszsoltikaen.htm

Kocsis Zsoltika is a 3 year old Hungarian little boy from Transylvania, Romania. He has leukaemia. The doctor of the small village they live in - Szentmáté (Saint-Mathew), in Beszterce county - had only this to say to his mother, who did't know anything before about his only child's sickness: "Yes, it is serious. Get used to the idea that you may lose him...".
They ended up in the big transylvanian city of Kolozsvár (Cloje), where they were told by the hospital that "in any case he can not be saved, but anyhow the romanian state wouldn't cover the cost of the treatment".

They are in Miskolc now, Zsoltika and his mom, in Hungary, at the BAZ County Hospital under the care of Dr. Nagy Kálmán, chief surgeon who is willing to attemp a bone marrow transplant, but the operation costs 21 million Hungarian Forints (cc. 82 000 EURs). They did make an appeal to the public on the television, but until now only 7,018 million forints (cc. 28.184 EURs) were gathered. If only 21,000 people would pay 1,000 forints (4 EURs)- the cost of a movie ticket - the money would already be there...

TANK_MASTER, we already sent donation. My wife's colleague called the hospital and they confirmed this sad story. Our son is three years old too.
I cannot imagine the anguish this child and his family and friends are going through..

I will be sending a donation to the Hungarian Society of Massachusetts by week end as I live in New York and Massachusetts is the next state over.. just east of N.Y.

Also.. I went ahead and sent a copy of your message OP to the admins of:

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is known to the world to provide advanced medicine and treatment to children and their famililies who have little or no means to pay for such treatment...their mission statement says it all..I will paste it here:

"
St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility anywhere. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses.

We are where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do more science, more quickly. Where doctors across the world send their toughest cases and most vulnerable patients. Where no one pays for treatment beyond what is covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never ask to pay. We've built America's 4th-largest health-care charity, with a model that keeps the costs down and the funds flowing, so the science never stops.
All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay.

I encourage everyone who reads this to e-mail St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by following this link:

http://www.stjude.org/contact

and requesting medical assistance for this child and his family.
If we all work together...maybe we can help this family and persuade St. Jude's hospital to perhaps bring this boy and his family to the United States for treatment and hopefully a cure.
it would only take a few minutes to e-mail St. Jude's
so please...do this...for this boy.

Thanks for taking the time to read this..

ppl help this little boy if he dies its all because every1 is to greedy with money, money is only sh**** paper but ur heart is telling you to donate atleast like $20.00 + so plz send some money to help this poor little boy to be back to peace and harmony and give him some hope that wut he needs in his life right now is hope, ,guidence happinnies etc so plz do what u can to bring his hope and happiness back
GHOST RIDER, I also wrote to St. Jude referring to this topic and the web page and asked if there were any chance that they could help, if their answer is positive I'll ask a more competent (Zsoltika's physician?) to contact them.
St. Jude replied to me, they ask a summary about Zsoltika's condition from his physician. If he is eligible for a research program they can help, but as I see this is not likely as they prefer if the pacient is prior to any serious threatment. They can help in other ways, e.g. discussing the case with his physician. My wife will contact his physician as soon as possible.

Well thats encouraging news !
a prompt reply is good news.. just getting in from work here and I saw this..
it put a smile on my face..
high hopes that this is the beginning of something good for this boy and his family..

I aslo have had 3 replies from them regarding this..one from a woman called Perry Kelly..who wants me to send her the information again from my 1st email that I sent them..as my first email did not go directly to her..So I will do that now

YOU KNOW HOW UVE GOT HELP A 3 YEAR OLD BOY ON THE RITE HAND SIDE OF THE GAMES PAGE..ISNT THERE N E WAY YOU COULD PUT IT ON THE ADVERTS IN THE GAMES BECAUSE ALOT OF PPL DONT GO ONTO FORUM YET THEY SEE THE ADVERTS ALL AROUND THE GAME WHEN PLAYING..JUST AN IDEA
The advert is not on the forum page , its on the homepage

She called the physisian but couldn't convince him. You know it is usually quite difficult to convince a physician about anything. I am quite disappointed, even if there were a small chance. Anyway, we will fax him the email, maybe if he sleeps on it and sees it in writing he changes his mind.
:( The poor lil fella just got my donation. i didnt need the $10 newayz, hope he gets better.
"She called the physisian but couldn't convince him."

:O :(

oh man..
this is bad news...
it is difficult to understand how a doctor could not be open to new and possibly life saving treatment options for one of his patents....
is there anything that can be done to help dshk ?
perhaps by e-mailing Dr. Kálmán and/or BAZ hospital ?
how can we make the boys family aware of this option with St. Jude Childrens Hospital ? maybe they can persuade him to reconsider..
very disappointing news this is....

I recieved this today..I understand they cannot share patient confidentiality..but maybe there is hope they can help this child

Thank you for supplying the info. We will see if the child is medically eligible for treatment here. Please understand, that even though you brought the info to me, due to medical confidentiality rules, I cannot share additional info with you now.

Sincerely,

Physicians and doctors face this kind of thing everyday so you would assume that they would be convinced , i mean this is reality and a little boys life is at stake here . Its like playing god and choosing who lives and who dies . This child needs treatment /s rapidly and it needs to be done as soon as possible , truely discouraging words
hope this child recovers sooner than later

My wife sent the fax with the info about St. Jude to Zsolti's physician, Dr. Nagy Kálmán. He called back her, he was quite friendy, thanked for the fax and told her that he will send the requested review tomorrow.

That was the good news. The bad news is that the donations collected until now covers only 40% of the cost of the transplantation and the rate of growth is slower then it was earlier.

Btw: this topic is linked from Zsoltika's home page as the English language forum.
Only 40% , i guess this means more donations ..
i can spare some more money i suppose :) , but we need OTHERS to also donate or else my singluar donation wont really be effective ..:(
I agree, in addition to the donations it is equally important that more people should know about this sad story. I hope if somebody reads this topic or the ad on the flyordie homepage, he/she can pass it on to other communities where he is a member.
That is a great idea... getting the message out...
so...with that said..
I have compiled a link to Kocsis Zsoltika's page with the image of him that FlyOrDie has used on their homepage....those of you who know HTML can simply copy and paste the below HTML into your web pages and community message boards...if you would like to see how it looks first..follow this link to a " HTML practice pad" site and paste it there:

http://www.auctionpix.co.uk/try.html

below is the HTML to produce this notice...I encourage everyone who has web pages or message boards to use this code to help spread the word about this boys urgent medical needs.

copy and paste this code to your HTML document, it produces a click-able link that opens in a new window to Kocsis Zsoltika's page:

Thanks Ghost,
I will put this on my Sci-fi fan website...

My wife and her friends organized a charity bazaar, sold their own works and they collected about USD 600. They will continue this.

The sum of the donations collected until now covers nearly 50% of the threatment costs. That is good news, on the other hand it comes quite slowly :-(

I beleive our Hungarian Foundation (RHEMA) and a private donor will be able to fund the balance of the needed funds
for the needed treatment(s). Please contact me via email me as soon as possible at JCerquitella@ggis.hu

At last , finally that child might have a good chance is surviving ...
Its great news considering the bad news we have had previously
Good to hear ! ;)
TANK_M....
The Budapest Sun published an article on Kocsis Zsolti today. It included the link to the website through which people can learn more about his situation and donate money; the site included a link onto this message board, so here I am.

I am sending my check to the Hungarian Society of Massachusetts. I may be a poor college student (relatively speaking), but even I can spare some money so that a little boy may have a chance to live.

Thus far, people have donated something like 44,900 euros, and I'm quite hopeful that the goal will be met.
americans are really spoiled compared to this country and his family. it's too sad but i dont want to cry!:'(
I am in contact with Mr Cerquitella, their sister foundation (RHEMA) and an American donor would like to give $ 41,000 USD toward these medical expenses.

The result of the charity bazaar till now is about 1,800 USD, and altogether more than 60,000 USD is gathered.

Awesome news... simply stunning..
This proves that there are good and kind people out there...in a world that seems so full of hate and selfishness lately.
This also proves that we...as a collective group...can do just about anything we set our minds to...

I salute everyone who gave to this life giving cause.....and especially to the American donor with such a kind and generous heart.

I read the article in the Budapest Sun as well. I'll certainly stop by the OTP bank and donate a little for the cause.
Some friends of mine lost their little girl to this horrible disease so I have some understanding of what is at stake here. It's wonderful to see that there are people out there who care about others and want to help. There is also something that you all can do besides giving money though. All the money in the world doesn't help unless there are doners. Please see www.marrow.org
Is the little 3 year old muslim or christian?

That does not matter, it's a 3 year old boy, innocent of all, what does his religion have to do with anything?
Wewll thats certainly alot of cursing you're doing there ...
Anyways , apart from that insecure individual , from what i have read things are looking good for the kidda ...
I'll be watching this topic and hope to hear some good news soon
TANK
I am curious....Any updates on Kocsis dshk
 ?:|
There are about USD 80 000 collected, Mr. Cerquitella told my wife that the USD 41 000 offered through the RHEMA foundation are ready to be transferred. They are willing to transfer it immediately when a donor is found.
If I understand correctly they found a "donor", actually in the form of navel-string blood, and they are waiting for the remaining donation before moving forward, which in turn will be transferred within a few days according to the fax from Mr. Cerquitella cc-ed to my wife.
good news then..! it appears he will be getting the treatment he needs very soon... :)

Thank you for the update dshk..
keep us posted on his progress will you?

thanks and a <<<<hug>>>> to your wife for her diligence with this...

I think you are a lucky man to have such a kind and loving person in your life...

R.D.
The money has been gathered and also the "donor-material" has been arrived from an international donor bank.
Zsoltika will be operated in some weeks.
Today Zsoltika was operated, there was not any complication during the transplantation. Zsoltika and his mother are in the sterile room now.

Oh! This is very good news..I am so pleased..Thankyou again..to the very generous person who made this possible for this child and his family..Please keep us informed on his progress..Once again..great news to hear :)

OP your post didn't show...can you do it again please? :)
Blunderbus, if you don't have anything nice to say why say anything at all. A lot of support has been given to this little boy who has needed the help of others. I hope that your message gets removed from this post.
Thanks to the mod who deleted Blunderbus, nice to see the true support in here for little Kocsis Zsoltika.I wish him well. Does anyone know how he is now?
this seems to have dropped off the radar :(

I'm wondering how he is doing now.. did he respond positively to the operation ?

GHOST
I agree with you wholeheartly Ghost..would be nice to see if all the goodwill of the people that have donated has paid off and given a chance to little Zsoltika ..and his mother of course

I must have a hole in MY heart,i cant type lol. i meant, whole heartily
COME on FOD give us all a response, not fair if u don't?
IN PLAIN ENGLISH<HOW IS THAT LITTLE KID DOING?..god bless him
Please tell us,,,,even if it is bad news.
No news for 6 months now .

I wonder whats wrong.
Look at my post at the last page in this thread; I posted this because OP made a reply but it didn't show in the thread (common forum glitch). Wonder what it said.
He's (OPP) done it again,,posted and we cant see it.
Zsoltika was at home in Transsylvania for a week in October, he came back in a good condition.
The treatment is going on, the doctor sais that probably an other transplantation will be required because the disease can be shown wih laboratory methods even now. (The donor has been typized.)

Well, thats encouraging news, it's nice that he was well enough to visit home for a week...
This last comment is a little confusing however..

>>>
The treatment is going on, the doctor sais that probably an other transplantation will be required because the disease can be shown wih laboratory methods even now. (The donor has been typized.

Does this mean he has had a relapse ? and Lab tests are now showing that his illness is returning?
And when you say "(The donor has been typized.)"
This means there is a matched donor available for future transplants ?
What has the doctor said about long term prognosis ?

Thanks for responding, as you can see, several of us were curious about the boy.

GHOST M.P.

is he ok i really want to know :( been a long time and im wondering if hes ok :_(

Thx Combo

So.. he is gone now OP..?
Very sad news indeed....what a fighter Zsoltika was..
is there a memorial fund or something people can still
contribute to ?
I'm sure the family is still suffering
with the burden of treatment expenses...yes ?

G.
Who did this little boy belong to? Was he a part of our FOD family, not that it really matters. What did he suffer from? Maybe we can stop another from suffering the same. I would truly like more information to pass out to try and get help for the family or a fund in his memory at least.

This is written to mark his memory:

In Memory Of Zsoltika

Zsoltika, another of our Lord's angels
sent to earth as a special gift.
Though his time was short,
so very much was gained.

Then it was time for Zsoltika
to return to his final resting place,
there among the angels
in the Lord's embrace.
